Note | Following in his father’s footsteps, Henry joined the rebellion that ended at Bothwell Brig on 22 June 1679. Just before the fight began, the Covenanters sent envoys across the bridge to the Duke of Monmouth, who refused to treat unless the rebels first laid down their arms. Amongst the envoys was a Captain McCulloch. If this person were Henry McCulloch, then he, too, must have had some military experience, probably on the continent or in Ireland. |
